Waterbury-John Paul Deka, 57, of Waterbury and a former resident of Southington died Monday, March 15, 2010, at St Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy (Saunders) Deka.
Born in Hartford on June 12, 1952 the son of Sarah (Baral) Deka of Windsor Locks, and the late Bruno Deka. John was employed as a Logistics Manager for NYK Logistics in Avon. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his children, Treena (Deka) and husband Vinny Mazzotta of Haddam, Jason and wife Trisha Deka of W. Hartford and Shane Deka of Newington, a sister Connie Sturtevant of Manchester, 3 step-children, Shannon Fry of Southington, Dennis Fry of Torrington and Darrin Fry of Tallahassee, FL. and 14 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, to St. Aloysius Church,254 Burritt St. Plantsville, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave. Meriden, CT 06450-1004
