Life Legacy
Southington- Mary ( Montefiore) Tomassetti, 91, of Blatchley Ave.,
passed away on Friday January 29, 2010 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was a young 91 years old and always young at heart. She was the wife of the late Fred Tomassetti Jr.
Mary was born in Meriden on October 16, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Nancy( Gelino) Montefiore. She was a graduate of Meriden High School Class of 1936 and a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church.
Mrs. Tomassetti is survived by her daughters Carol Tomassetti of Southington, Judith Smith and her husband Michael of Middletown, her sons, Fred Tomassetti III and his wife Laurel of Southington and David Tomassetti and his wife LaVonne of Meriden, She was lovingly known as Gammy by her three granddaughters, Michelle Smith and her husband Richard Grierson Denise Lasker and her husband John and Karen Brown and her husband Matthew, three great grandchildren Emma and Abby Lasker and Gavin Brown. She also leaves a brother William Montefiore of Bethesda, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Gene Montefiore.
Her greatest joy was taking care of and being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her younger days she enjoyed traveling, especially to Rome, Egypt and LasVegas.
Special thanks to our sister Carol who took such wonderful care of our Mother in her time of need.
The funeral will be held on Thursday February 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church 254 Burritt St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Thursday from 9-10 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450-1004 or to the donor’s choice.
